Position: Chief Operating Officer and Head of Independent Services Business Sector

Location: Pride Park, Derby

AEGIS Certification Services offers a full range of third-party independent assessment and certification services. Their vision is to be recognised and respected globally as the independent services company of choice – a positive choice for their staff as well as their clients.

To build on our continued successful growth, we have a requirement for a Chief Operating Officer. Reporting to the CEO, your primary mission will be to lead the operations of the AEGIS independent services business in delivering the certification Business Plan, working alongside the Certification Director to ensure operations are executed in line with ACS’s accreditations.

The role will also have responsibility for Independent Services as a Business Sector, with a remit to grow its market presence, client base, order book and services portfolio.

Position: Head of Infrastructure Business Sector

Location: Pride Park, Derby

Job Specification:

To build on and continue our growth in the railway infrastructure market, we have a requirement for a Head of Infrastructure.  Reporting to the COO, your primary mission will be to lead the Infrastructure Business Sector as a successful division of the company, grow its market presence, client base, order book and services portfolio.

This role will also be responsible for leading the Infrastructure Assurance and Consultancy service areas as a successful business service: overseeing delivery of the business plan, growing its market presence, client base, order book and services portfolio. You will provide technical expertise in Infrastructure Assurance and Consultancy projects and will oversee the wellbeing of all members of the Infrastructure team, including line management responsibility the engineers. 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 

  • Delivery of the Sector’s Business Plan in terms of sales/revenue.
  • Business development, with the assistance of the marketing/business development function and Service Leads, to achieve the planned growth of the Sector.
  • Creation and ownership of the Infrastructure Assurance and Consultancy Business Plan.
  • Leadership and development of the Infrastructure Assurance and Consultancy team.

Essential Skill and Knowledge:

  • Substantial technical experience of one or more infrastructure engineering specialisms and of working in an engineering consulting environment.
  • Proven success in client relationships, project management and business management.
  • A wide appreciation of all railway infrastructure disciplines and competencies.

Position: Senior/Principal AsBo/ISA Engineer 

Location: Pride Park, Derby

Job Specification:

We are seeking applicants for the position of a Senior/Principal AsBo/ISA Engineer. The position will report to the Head of AsBo and ISA.

In this role you will be working on AsBo/ISA projects, both Rolling Stock and Infrastructure. However, within the spirit of AEGIS, you may be required to support other activities within the companies. 

Essential Skill and Knowledge

  • Ability to accurately follow defined procedures
  • Understanding of the principles of compliance
  • Ability to demonstrate continued professional development
  • Working Knowledge of EN 50126/50128/50129
  • Working Knowledge of CSM-RA 402/2013
  • Experience in delivering projects related to safety critical systems (e.g. chair/attend Hazard Identification, write/assess Safety Cases, etc.) 

Desirable Skill and Knowledge

The following attributes are considered desirable for the role:

  • Registered with a professional institution licensed by the Engineering Council
  • Experience in assessing projects related to safety critical systems (e.g. chair/attend Hazard Identification, write/assess Safety Cases, etc.) 
  • Experience in working for a train operating company
  • Experience in managing operational hazards
  • Experience in working with signalling systems
  • Understanding of the legislative requirements for authorisation for placing into service/bringing into market
  • Experience of compliance management
  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities 

  • Support the production of certification project documentation, typically including; certification plans, clause by clause reviews, technical files and certificates/attestation statements (i.e. deliverables). 
  • Liaise with team members (including Associates) and interface with clients on both technical and contractual matters. 
  • Interface with technical experts from other disciplines within AEGIS as required by the scope of each project. 
  • Contribute to the development of internal processes and procedures. 
  • Maintain your own competence and knowledge and develop your expertise in certification. 
  • Support business development activities including development of technical and commercial proposals for certification projects. 
  • Represent AEGIS at relevant industry events and committees when required. 

 

Position: Senior Safety Engineer 

Location: Flexible

Job Specification:

To support our Design and Safety Engineering projects as well as our Assurance and Independent Assessment activities and therefore good domain knowledge of rolling stock (either passenger or OTM/OTP) is essential. This should include experience in the engineering and functionality of railway vehicles and their principal sub-systems.

In order to carry your key responsibilities you will have detailed knowledge of applicable standards relating to railway safety assurance, specifically EN50126, as well as experience in the application of applicable legislation, such as ROGS and the Common Safety Methods CSM-RA regulations. An understanding of other railway standards, including Technical Specifications for Interoperability, Railway Group and Industry Standards and applicable Euro Norms would be advantageous.

You will have experience and competence in the use of RAMS tools and techniques such as FTA, FMECA, hazard identification, risk assessment and reliability assessments.

Our engineers’ interface with clients and other project stakeholders at both a technical and contractual level. As a senior member of the team you would also oversee the work of less experienced engineers, providing advice and assistance at the detailed level. As a project manager for safety related projects, you will be required to manage the delivery of your own work to the client and that of others within the team to timescale, cost and quality.

For this Senior Engineer grade, we are typically looking for between 5 and 10 years of relevant engineering experience.

Position:  Senior Engineer, Cyber Security Engineer 

Location:  Pride Park, Derby

 Job Specification:

To maintain our growth in the UK rail market, we are seeking an ambitious and motivated cyber security specialist to join our Software and Cyber Security team.

The successful candidate will be a degree qualified software engineer (or equivalent) to support our cyber security business and grow the capabilities of our existing team.

The role will involve undertaking consultancy and assessment of our clients’ cyber security projects, to support the process definition, risk assessment, design, and assurance or to verify compliance with cyber security standards. You will be required to manage the delivery of your own work within the software and cyber security team to defined timescale, cost, and quality targets.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Gaining expertise in cyber security processes and standards.
  • Development and production of cyber security project documentation, typically including strategies, plans, technical reports, and independent assessment deliverables.
  • Liaise with external partners where applicable, and interface with clients on both technical and contractual matters.
  • Interface with technical experts from other disciplines within the company as required by the scope of each project.
  • Support business development activities including development of technical and commercial proposals for cyber security projects.

Essential Requirements:

You will have a minimum of 3 relevant cyber security experience and be degree qualified with knowledge and experience covering:

  • A specific engineering discipline relating to Cyber Security.
  • A broad understanding of cyber security processes, security risk assessment and threat identification, security assurance.
  • Experience of delivering consultancy and independent cyber security projects.
  • Experience of cyber security assurance and associated tools and techniques, for example security requirements specification, defence in depth design, patch management or vulnerability/penetration testing.
