The role:
To maintain our growth in the UK rail market, and to meet growing demand for our  Software assurance services, we are seeking an ambitious and motivated engineer to join an industry-leading Software Assurance team.  In return, you will receive full and comprehensive training in the required software assurance techniques in order for you to excel within this role. No previous assurance experience is required.
The successful candidate will be a degree qualified software engineer, computer scientist, electrical or electronics engineer and will join our software assurance business to grow the capabilities and capacity of our existing team.
The role will involve undertaking assessment of our clients’ software developments to verify
compliance with software assurance standards, such as BS EN 50128:2011. You will be required to manage the delivery of your own work within the software assurance team to defined timescale, cost and quality targets.

  • Your responsibilities will cover:
     Gaining expertise in software assurance processes and standards.
     Development and production, initially under guidance, of software assurance project documentation, typically including strategies, plans, technical reports and independent assessment deliverables.
     Liaise with external partners where applicable, and interface with clients on both technical and contractual matters.
     Interface with technical experts from other disciplines within the Company as required by the scope of each project.
     Support business development activities including development of technical and  commercial proposals for software assurance projects.

Position: Plant Certification Engineer
Location:  Pride Park, Derby

The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Certification (Plant), you will be working on Plant Assessment Body (PAB) and Independent Competent Person (ICP) Plant Certification projects. These projects are primarily On Track Plant, though the role also covers On Track Machines in Working and travelling mode.

Additionally, the role covers Network Rail Product Acceptance review of rail plant.

 Essential Skills/ knowledge:

The following attributes are considered essential for the role.

  • Ability to accurately follow defined procedures
  • Understanding of the principles of compliance
  • Registered with a professional institution licensed by the Engineering Council
  • Understanding of the principles of mechanical engineering
  • A structured approach to completing tasks
  • Full UK drivers’ licence
  • Ability to demonstrate continued professional development
  • Understanding of the principles of engineering risk management

Desirable Skills/knowledge:

The following attributes are considered desirable for the role.

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
  • Ability to manage clients within a range of circumstances
  • Experience of compliance management
  • Experience of plant engineering
  • Experience of railway engineering
  • Experience of European standards
  • Understanding of the legislative requirements for placing products onto the market
