TPWS NoBo DeBo Certification

Mors Smitt have developed a Train Protection and Warning System (TPWS), the national protection system used on the UK rail network. Their solution offers a range of modular configurations, allowing for flexibility in the choice of both hardware elements and customisable control software.

AEGIS Certification Services were appointed as Notified Body (NoBo) and Designated Body (DeBo) across a range of project applications.

Class 73 Bio Fuel Approvals and Certification

AEGIS Certification Services were selected by G-Volution for the certification and approvals of a Class 73 locomotive to be converted to run on Diesel and Bio LPG fuel.

The project was to modify a Class 73 freight locomotive to enable it to run as a dual fuel vehicle.  The ‘Decarbonising Rail Freight’ project was  administered by Innovate UK under their DfT funded ‘First of a Kind’ round 3 (FOAK3) competition.

TPWS SIL1 Compliance

Unipart Rail has developed a TPWSfour© Control Unit (Option 5) and associated equipment to conform to the latest TPWS/AWS Railway Group and Industry Standards.

AEGIS Certification Services were appointed as Designated Body and Independent Safety Assessor for SIL 1 accreditation of TPWSfour©. SIL1 (System Integrity Level 1) is a complex accreditation designed to assess technical products to a very exacting set of standards which demonstrates very low levels of risk.

Glasgow Subway – Rolling Stock ISA

AEGIS Certification Services (ACS) has been appointed by Stadler as Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) for the activities leading from final approved design to the completion of phase GOA2, which will form the basis for the subsequent phase GOA4.

We were able to assist Stadler at a challenging stage of the project where the transition from design ISA to test stage ISA required careful review to ensure that there were no gaps in assessment and open points were fully addressed. Our support included the review and assessment of key safety documentation deliverables, including the hazard record supporting the Authorisation for Test 2 (AfT2) stage of test and commissioning activities. The achievement of Aft2 enabled test vehicles to enter the subway tunnels for the first time.
